Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Test and measurement of product in accordance with customer and/or Orchid Monroe, LLC requirements.
  • Perform in-house calibration, maintain calibrations to schedule, and properly document calibration results in calibration system and on instruments. Coordinate calibrations with external calibration services for gages that exceed our calibration capabilities.
  • Conduct testing on incoming product as specified to ensure compliance of in-coming product including dimensional, chemical and soft-magnetic properties as specified.
  • Conduct internal product audits.
  • Conduct testing on fluoroscopy machine as specified to ensure compliance to requirements.
  • Conduct Epstein testing per standard requirements.
  • Conduct humidity testing per standard requirements.
  • Conduct customer specific testing per customer requirements e.g. phosphate thickness testing  via XRF.
  • Document, contain and control non-conforming product.
  • Maintain documented information pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Support manufacturing floor as needed.
  • Support PPAP activity as needed.
  • Support engineering changes by ensuring that gauges and Control Plans/QRR’s are current with product design.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities to comply with standards of operation and cleanliness.
  • Evaluate test results relative to requirements and to establish compliance of product and validity of test data.
  • Communicate data - analyze, graph, present and explain in a format suitable for a given audience or as required to meet Orchid Monroe, LLC or customer requirements.
  • Adhere to all Orchid Monroe, LLC safety requirements.
  • Helping to set, implement, and achieve departmental goals.
  • Participate in determining root cause of returned failures.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all equipment and operations to assure exceptional quality
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervision.


Qualifications


  • Education and/or experience: Associated Degree or equivalent experience in the Quality Assurance Field, or minimum of five years quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metrology, and/or ASQ certified Quality Technician (CQT).
  • Working knowledge and abilities to run existing programs for both a manual and DCC/CMM and vision measuring systems is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and interpret drawings with emphasis on GD&T as they relate to 3-dimensional datum structures, true positioning, maximum material condition, etc.
  • Ability to analyze data and employ tools such as Microsoft Excel to calculate cpk, ppk, ranges, averages, standard deviations, trends, median, etc. as descriptors of measured data.
  • Demonstrate math skills sufficient to perform inspection, statistical process control, GD&T and MSA activities - ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and decimals, convert units, understand relative values for determining compliance.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
  • Ability to read and write technical content in English and verbally communicate in English.
  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to move freely and safely in a manufacturing environment, safely lift product, talk, hear, vision sufficient to inspect product visually, sit, stand, kneel, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms. Lab time: 40%, Mfg. Floor time: 20%, Desk/computer time: 40%.


Responsibilities and Authorities


  • Carry out quality checks based on control plan / QRR requirements and determine conformance of product characteristics and process controls with respect to requirements within the scope of the QRR; and record objective evidence of that activity accurately as required.
  • Stop production in the area of operation pertaining to this job function scope in the event the process is producing nonconforming product or waste.
  • Validate gauges and initiate positive recall in the event a gauge is found to be out of calibration or capability.
  • Positively control nonconforming product and alert supervision and Quality Assurance in the event nonconforming product is discovered.
  • Understand and periodically review documentation pertaining to the job function and request revision of process documentation when appropriate.
