UPG Electrical’s annealing department employs proven techniques and processes to significantly upgrade the electrical performance of steel laminations and motor/generator/transformer cores, ultimately enabling a higher performance product to be produced from a lower cost steel.
With four annealing furnaces and one burn-off oven, we have output capacity of over 20,000 pounds per hour. Dew point, air percentage, gas percent H2, CO, CO2 and gas discharge are carefully monitored throughout the annealing process to ensure the appropriate grain growth and metallurgical results are achieved for each application, including increasing permeability and reducing core loss where necessary.
UPG Electrical utilizes both exothermic and HNX atmospheres in high and low heat cycles as well as a stress relief anneal cycle to provide the optimum annealing process for a wide range of annealing requirements.
